“Pending reorganization, Ambassador mine and mill will suspend operations for 14 days. With the exception of a few men employed during the past week, the crew will be kept at the property. At present the mill is employing 23 men. Horace Lackey, general superintendent, who was called to the main office in South Bend, Ind. two weeks ago is expected to return in two weeks. A plan for reorganization of the company is being worked out and temporary shut down will be enlarged from a 50 ton capacity to a 150 ton capacity. Additional devilment work will be done.

Horace A. Lackey dies, Rites Held at Rocksprings
Funeral services were held from the Rocksprings Baptist Church Saturday afternoon for Horace Andrew Lackey, 62, who died Friday in a Rocksprings Hospital. Officiating was Rev. Julius P. King, a retired Baptist minister [his bro in law]. Burial was in the Rocksprings Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers were all masons of the Rocksprings lodge. Mr. Lackey died while visiting his brother, Oscar Lackey of Barksdale. He was a resident of Los Angeles, Calif, where he had been living for the past 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edith Lackey, Los Angeles; two sons Gordon and Aubrey Lackey both of California; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie May King of Barksdale, and Mrs. Carrie Taylor of Gustine; two brothers Oscar and Lewis Lackey of Barksdale . Two grandchildren also survive.
