Frances H. Aalfs, 91, of Buchanan passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
She was born July 21, 1926, in Lansing, Mich., to the late Robert Sr. and Nina Russell. On June 21, 1947, Frances married Christ Jake Butch Aalfs. Frances helped Butch with the bookkeeping at Aalfs Service.
Surviving family includes sons, Larry (Cheri) Aalfs and Mike (Mary) Aalfs, both of Buchanan; daughters, Susan (Bill) Leidy of Buchanan, Joan Aalfs of St. Joseph; grandchildren: Mike Leidy, Adam Leidy, Heidi (Mark) Studebaker, Jaime (Heath) Warmbein, Carre (Chris) Deming, Tori (Tim) Austin, Kimi Aalfs, Tina Aalfs; great-grandchildren: Alexis Leidy, A.J. Leidy, Sara Leidy, Addison Warmbein, Carter Aalfs, Jacob Aalfs, Makayla Aalfs, Amaya Huffer, Carson Deming, Anela Warmbein, Cullen Edgerly, Logan Edgerly, Amy Studebaker, Abby Studebaker, Emma Austin, Kyleigh Deming, Maddi Ginther, Alaina Austin; and one great-great-grandchildren, Emberlee Barnett.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sr. and Nina; husband, Butch; brothers, Robert Russell Jr., Herbert Russell; sister, Jean Schwartz; and grandchild, Amy Leidy.
Funeral service for Frances will be held at noon on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
