Abraham Derr was born August 1, 1820 in Frederick County, Maryland, USA, and was the son of Abraham Solomon and Anna Mary Cover Derr. Abraham was born a twin. His twin brother was named Ephram Derr, born August 1, 1820, Frederick County Maryland, USA; and passed away August 20, 1820 in Frederick County, Maryland, USA. His little life was sadly short lived. Abraham lived to marry with Mary Ann Martin Derr on March 22, 1845 in Frederick County, Maryland, USA.
Known Children of Abraham and Mary Ann Martin Derr:
1) James K. Derr, born November 14, 1845 in Frederick County, Maryland, USA; death on December 5, 1845 in Frederick County, Maryland, USA, burial unknown at this time.
2) Martha Susan Derr, born November 14, 1846 in Creagerstown, Frederick County, Maryland, USA; death was on February 23, 1913 in Maryland, USA. Married Wilford Abraham Renner.
3) Lucinda Ann "Lucy" Derr, born March 5, 1849 in Creagerstown, Frederick County, Maryland, USA; died on September 11, 1911, Frederick County, Maryland, USA. Married James Alexander Gorshon.
4) Margaret Ellen Derr, born in 1851 in Maryland, USA. Died in 1913 in Frederick County, Maryland, USA. Married George Isaac Renner.
5) Mary Elizabeth Derr, born on February 5, 1854 in Joppa, Harford, Maryland, USA. Died on March 15, 1929 in Maryland. Married William H. Fox.
6) George Nathaniel Derr, born on January 7, 1856 in Maryland, USA. Died January 22, 1927 in Walkersville, Frederick County, Maryland, USA. Married Arabella V. "Anniebelle" Long.
7) Emily J. Isabell Derr, born November or December 1856 in Maryland, USA. Date or place of death is unknown. She was seen on the 1860 census before her sister Isabell Catherine Derr was born, and by the 1870 census she is not listed, but Isabell Catherine is listed. By 1870 Isabell Catherine would be about 9 years old. Emily would have been about 14 to 15 years old. Therefore Emily J. Isabell and Isabell Catherine cannot be the same person as some would like to make them. Sadly there is little to no information for Emily. By this time Emily could have also been married and living elsewhere under her husband's sur name, but with no definitive information nothing can be added to back this theory up. Emily may well have passed away as well, but since we cannot find a burial place for an Emily J. Isabell Derr that cannot be proven either, and she may well have married. A mystery which hopefully one day will be solved for us. May Emily rest in peaceful slumbers with our Lord Jesus Christ.
8) Isabell Catherine Derr, born on September 16, 1861. Died on July 16, 1876.
9) John Calvin Derr, born on March 11, 1864 in Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland. Died on April 22, 1936 in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Married Anna Sophia Anders.
10) Lucy Ann Derr. Married James Gorshon.
