Kenneth D. Braatz, 74, a former resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at his home in Waite Park. He was born on Dec. 22, 1925, in Fergus Falls, the son of Emil and Mathilda (Marohl) Braatz. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On Sept. 3, 1949, he married Eunice O. Helleckson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He was employed as a funeral director by Olson Furniture and Funeral Home in Fergus Falls from 1948 to 1962. In 1962, they moved to St. Cloud, where he was employed as a salesman for FC Hayer of Minneapolis until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Braatz was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Cloud and St. Augusta American Legion Post No. 621. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, and golf.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Eunice, who died on Sept. 12, 1999; one brother; and his step-father, Walter Theis.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Tom (Barb) Braatz of St. Cloud, Tim (Patty) Braatz of Portage, Mich.; daughters and son-in-law, Barb (Dan) Rosha of Clearwater, Jane Theisen of Sartell; a sister, Eleanora Gillund of Fergus Falls; sister-in-law, Betty (Mrs. Stan) Johnson of Fergus Falls; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
