THE REV. DR. LEWIS P. CLOVER

The Rev. Dr. Lewis P. Clover died at his summer home, New-Hackensack, near Poughkeepsie, on Monday, from paralysis, by which he was stricken several months ago.

Dr. Clover, who was nearly seventy-eight years old, was a well-known and highly-esteemed clergyman of the Protestant Episcopal Church. In the course of his long ministration he had been the rector o various churches in New-York, New-Jersey, Massachusetts and Illinois. His last rectorship was that of St. Paul's Church, Clifton Springs, New York.

He was well-known in artistic and literary circles as well as in the church, and was one of the founders of the National Academy of Design, with which he was long and actively identified. He was a frequent contributor to various periodicals, and his literary productions were frequently embellished with original illustrations.

Dr. Clover leaves five children: Commander Richardson Clover, of the United States steamer Dolphin; Charles B. Clover, of Poughkeepsie; the Rev. George F. Clover, assistant pastor and superintendent of St. Luke's Hospital, in this city; Mrs. Henry Brock and Mrs. John N. Roach. The funeral will take place at Christ Church, Poughkeepsie at 3 p. m., to-morrow, the rector of the church officiating.
