David Bowers died at his home Friday night, March 17th, at 11 o'clock, with heart trouble, after being sick about a week. He was 76 years of age. One son, four daughters and his widow survive him. Funeral at 10 a.m. Friday, at the Dunkard church.

David Bowers was born in Blair Co., Pennsylvania, January 18, 1815, and died at his home in Hagerstown, Wayne Co., Ind., March 17th, aged 76 years and 2 months. He leaves a wife[,] one son and four daughters. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Booher, of the Lutheran Church, of which he was a member from infancy.
"Oh how sweet it will be in that beautiful land,
So free from all sorrow and pain;
With song on our lips and harps in our hands,
To meet our dear father again."
