Grandma Lightcap, who for a long time had made her home with her son George and family, died last Friday forenoon about 10 o'clock, aged 79 years, 9 months and 1 day. Her death resulted from general debility, resulting from her advanced age. The funeral was held Sunday at 10 o'clock from the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Snyder of the Brethren congregation. Deceased was a pioneer resident of the county, known and admired by nearly everyone and the funeral brought out a large concourse of people.
The following brief sketch will be of interest: Mrs. Mary Lightcap was born in Ohio Feb. 12, 1820. She was married to Levi Lightcap Jan. 24. 1841, to whom were born three sons and a daughter. They are Walter, George and Henry Lightcap of this city and Mrs. A. J. White of Argos. She had lived in Starke county more than forty years, the past thirty years of which she had been a widow. For over sixty years she had been a devoted christian and had long been a member of the E. B. church. She died in the full triumph of eternal glory. Besides her immediate family, she leaves thirteen grand-children and three great-grand-children.
