A. Madeleine Garvey, formerly of Longview Drive, a teacher in the Providence school system for many years before retiring, died yesterday at the Cedar Crest Nursing Home where she lived for three years.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Cornelius and Winifred (Lannon) Garvey, she lived in Cranston for 15 years. She previously lived in Providence.
Miss Garvey taught for most of her career at the Messer Street School, and was a coordinating teacher before retiring.
She was a graduate of the former Rhode Island College of Education, now Rhode Island College.
She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a past president of the Catholic Alumnae, and a past president of the Rosary and Altar Society at the church.
She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three nephews.
