Clarice B. Cook, 91, of Spruce Street, Martinsville, died on Sunday, February 1, 2015.

She was born in Princeton, WV on February 4, 1923 to James Oswal Bird and Ella Wheeler Bird.

Mrs. Cook graduated from Big Creek High School in War, WV, she was a bookkeeper for Chevrolet and Southwest Diesel in Salem for many years and was a member of Ridgeway United Methodist Church in Ridgeway, VA.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Keith Cook, son, Charles Wayne Cook, brother, Paul Kenton Bird, sister, Evelyn Bird Canterbury and an infant grandson, Phillip Neil Cook.

Surviving are her daughters, Joyce Cook Young of Martinsville, Sue Cook Scott (Tom) of Brandon, FL, sister, Mrs. Faye Branson of Beaver, WV, four grandchildren, Michelle Scott McLamb of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lori Scott Mielnik (Christian) of Pittsburgh, PA, Heather Dawn Cook of Wilmington, NC and Jessica Young Nigh (Bryan) of Martinsville, VA, two great-grandchildren, Lindsay Nicole McLamb and Caitlin Mary McLamb of Durham, NC and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM before the funeral and other times at the home of Mrs. Cook's daughter, Joyce Young, 707 Corn Tassel Trail, Martinsville. Burial will follow the funeral at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, VA.
