Marion was the first born daughter to Alex and Sharley (Brownson) Smith. She had one brother, Russell and two sisters, Eva Claire (Rochelle) and Frances (Wagner) Smith. In her early twenties, Marion moved to Meckling, South Dakota to help her Aunt Clara Spatz. There she met Glenn Edgerton and they were married January 4th, 1932 in Illinois. Their son Robert Edgerton was born in 1933, after they had moved to Wisconsin to be near Glenn’s family. Marion and Glenn’s happiness was short lived as she died suddenly the following year. He brought her back to Valley, Nebraska to be buried near her family.
