Halls--Ira Frank Simmons, 67, of Birmingham, former of Halls, retired lawyer with the Internal Revenue Service, died Monday at AMA Brookwood Hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at Halls Funeral Home, burial in Halls Cemetery.
He was a Baptist and a lieutenant and fighter pilot with the Navy during the Okinawa blitz in World War II.
Simmons, the husband of Geneva Simmons, also leaves two sons, Mark Simmons, of Birmingham and Steven Simmons, of Los Angelos, CA; a sister, Mrs. Mary S. Davis, of Memphis; two brothers, Billy Reed Simmons, of Covington and Clyde Simmons, of Lexington, KY.
