Ken graduated high school from Algona, Iowa. He served our country for two years in the U.S. Air Force. After his service, Ken attended Gates College. He spent his career as a CPA. After retirement, he moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas. Ken was a past president of the Exchange Club in Waterloo, Iowa, and an American Legion Commander in both Waterloo, Iowa and Bella Vista, Arkansas. He loved his granddaughters who were his “Princesses.” Ken enjoyed playing dominoes and watching baseball on TV. Ken had a strong faith and love of God. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Arlene Asa; three brothers, Morris Asa, Don Asa and Howard Asa; and a sister, Phyllis Pederson.
Ken is survived by his wife, Dorris Asa of the home; a son, David Asa and wife Cori of Coralville, Iowa; two granddaughters, Nichole and Kristin Asa; a brother, Gene Asa and wife Lois of Fort Orchard, Washington; a sister, Kathy Cavanaugh of Gilmore City, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am Friday, September 25, 2015, at Friendly Baptist Church, Branson, Missouri, with Pastor Monty Dunn officiating. Burial will be at a later time in Garden of Memories, Waterloo, Iowa. Memorial contributions in memory of Ken may be made to the Friendly Baptist Church Building Fund.
