Betty Ruth Avery Sims, 86 of Conyers, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015. She was born in Atlanta to Joseph and Hassie Dobbs Avery. Betty was a very active member of Rockdale Baptist Church where she sang in the Senior Choir. She was a very unique people person that loved people and traveling. Betty was active in the Senior Center and the Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Angela and Barry Whitmire; grandchildren Scott Christian and Josh Whitmire; great-grandchildren Ashlee, Corbyn, Zack , Hudson and Oliver; niece DeAnnah and nephew Larry and lady’s maid Cami.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at Rockdale Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Moss officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service. Guests may sign the online register at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
