She was born September 21, 1940, in Lawrence County the daughter of the late Louis and Golden (Garner)Schnake.
Wilma was a 1957 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She worked as a secretary in the Mt. Vernon and Monett area. She loved to play bingo, crochet and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
On October 3, 1958, she married Richard Edward Kennedy of Monett, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1989.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two sons, Richard Kennedy and his wife, Allyson, of Ozark, Missouri, and Rex Kennedy and his wife, Debra, of Tavares, Florida; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Sierra) Kennedy, Derek (Breeze) Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Sonnette (Jared) Pinnell, Andrea (Benny “Dub”) Shanks, Andrew Kennedy, Kandice (Matt) Mann and Aydan Kennedy; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Debbie) Schnake of Mt. Vernon and Wayne (Esther) Schnake of Stotts City, Missouri, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wilma's three brothers, Ivan and Phyllis Schnake, Max and Gladys Schnake and Donny Schnake and sister-in-law, Marceline Schnake also preceded her in death.
A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon.
