Maggie Ann Horton Bobbitt was born on April 8, 1931 in Ida, LA. She went to be with the Lord on September 20, 2015, after a brief illness, surrounded by family, loved ones, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Vivian, LA, officiated by Rev. Greg Tipton, assisted by Rev. Bill Green. Burial will follow in Vivian Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, September 23rd from 6-8 pm at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA.

Maggie was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and she was a resident of Vivian for the past 45 years. She was a lifelong gardener; she loved growing flowers and giving them to her neighbors and friends. She loved sharing her home with friends and family and no one ever left her home hungry.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Obine Horton, her mother Eulalia Chandler Horton, her husband William Edgar Bobbitt Sr., her son George Foster Bobbitt, her brothers CH Horton and Franklin D. Horton, her sisters Lorine Horton Bruner, Lois Horton Purdue, Martelie Waters Bain, and her granddaughter Summer Nikole Beard. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bennishia Bobbitt Lee and husband Herman Lee, her sons, David C. Austin Jr. and Lorie Winham, James G. Bobbitt and wife Laila Bobbitt, Dan Michael Bobbitt and wife Stacy Williams Bobbitt, and William E. Bobbitt Jr. and wife Kristy Meshell Bobbitt, her sisters Helen Waters and Francis Hayden, her brothers Sam Horton and wife Faye and John Lewis Horton, her grandchildren; Troy Bobbitt, James E. Bobbitt, Phillip Lee, Lacy Davis, Megan Lee, Hannah Lanning, Jalah Bobbitt, Ashton Bobbitt, AJ Bobbitt, and Madi Bobbitt, her great grandchildren; Clay Spurlin, Casey Lee, Skylar Lee, Konleigh Davis, Corina Lanning, and Mary Ella Lee. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Pallbearers will be Ed Bobbitt, Troy Bobbitt, AJ Bobbitt, Phillip Lee, Michael Lanning, and Steven Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Casey Lee and Clay Spurlin.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association Louisiana Chapter.

The family would like to thank her doctors; Chhabra, Mull, Rokaw, Abro, Patel, Bryn, Tuminello and Andrew, her nurses; Rosie, Kristen, Amanda, Amy, Katie, Justin, and Garrett, and the staff at Willis Knighton North CCU.
