Mr. Arney L. Herrin, Jr., 68, died suddenly Saturday evening (September 19, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Waycross.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross where he graduated from Ware County High School. A Georgia Police Academy graduate, he retired from Ware County Sheriff's Department as chief deputy in 1996. As a private investigator, he owned and operated Herrin and Associates. Mr. Herrin served in the National Guard and was the first licensed polygrapher in Waycross.

He is the son of the late Arney L. Herrin, Sr. and Lovie Mae Morgan Herrin.

Survivors include his wife, Linda James Herrin of Waycross; three children, Tammy Herrin Horlock (Chris), Arney Lee Herrin III, and Rhonda Herrin Lee (Billy); eight grandchildren, Dean Oliver (Brittany), Brianna Oliver (Daniel), Kristyn Horlock Dial (K.D.), Kaitlyn Horlock Thigpen (Jed), Hunter Lee, Destiny Herrin, Elizabeth Herrin and Emma Herrin; four great grandchildren, Karalee and Karaline Oliver, Blakeley Oliver and Bridan Cox; one brother, Billy Ray Herrin (Becky); one step-sister, Judy McWhorter; one nephew, Jesse Herrin; two nieces, Jennifer Nolan and Tori Rogers; and numerous other relatives.
