James Henry (Jim) Holdiness, 89 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia.
He was born on June 13, 1928 in Lilbourn, Missouri to the late Jim and Bertha Holdiness. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and continued his service in the Missouri Army National Guard.
Bro. Jim received his master’s in Theology and served churches in southern Arkansas and Oklahoma. He was currently the Senior Outreach Minister at Calvary Baptist Church in Magnolia.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Vera Godwyn Holdiness; his second wife Martha Jo Hall Holdiness; a sister Zelma Henry; and a brother Eddie Doan Holdiness.
Jim is survived by his brother Jack Holdiness and wife Veronica of New Madrid, Missouri; step son Jimmy and Sue Rubow of Camden, Arkansas; two step granddaughters, Becky Donovan and Amy Rubow; a special friend and adopted daughter Nelda Smith of Magnolia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services to begin at 2:00 PM with Bro. Micah Carter and Bro. Chuck Roach officiating. Burial will follow at Hephzibah Cemetery in Emerson, Arkansas under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.
Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, PO Box 929, Magnolia, Arkansas 71754.
Pallbearers will be Austin Story, Edward Kersey, Charles Story, Rodney Rowe, Billy Smithwick, and Van Smith.
