Rudolph Frank "Rudy" Bukovac, 85 years old, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012. Rudy was born in Kansas City, Kansas, to Teresa Novak and Frank Bukovac. He attended Bishop Ward High School and after completing his sophomore year, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Naval Construction Battalions (Seabees) building airstrips and Quonset huts for warehouses, hospitals, and housing on various islands in the Pacific during World War II.

After the war, Rudy graduated from Wyandotte High School and for two years attended the University of Kansas City, which later became the University of Missouri- Kansas City. He worked in the garment industry in Kansas City for most of his career as a merchandiser for Mode O'Day and Gay Gibson clothing company, and later in the management and marketing of fabric stores.

Rudy was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. After moving to Overland Park, he became a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing sports and cards, particularly gin rummy, with his children and grandchildren.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Bernice; his sister, Mary Palcher, and his brother, Joseph Bukovac. He was survived by his children: Daniel, Lawrence, Thomas Bukovac and Edythe Bukovac Xenos; eleven grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Overland Park, preceded by the visitation. Entombment was at Mount Calvary Mausoleum. Arrangements by Skradski Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas.
