William Eldridge "Billy" Bunting Jr., 80, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away peacefully Monday, December 19, 2011. He owned/operated Bunting General Tire in Poquoson for many years, and worked in printing for 63 years. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, and served on the Poquoson City Council for eleven years. Billy was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and the Poquoson American Legion Post 273. He was a lifetime member of the Colonial Virginians R. V. Club, and was an avid R.V.'er who loved traveling with his wife. Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Miriam Moore Bunting; parents, Nina Judkins Wilson and William Eldridge Bunting Sr.; four sisters; and one brother. He is survived by three daughters, Juliette Mitchell (Alan), Nancy Chitwood (Robert), and Andrea Jane Bunting Holder (Tommy); a son, William Joseph Bunting (friend Candi); two sisters, Annie "Teny" Barnes and Lenell Ironmonger; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends today, 12-2:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, immediately followed by a Memorial Service in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM by Rev. Milford C. Rollins and Rev. Dr. Bill Wash. Burial will be at a later date in Smith Memorial Cemetery, Poquoson. Memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 831 Poquoson Ave., or to Smith Cemetery Association, 256 Wythe Creek Rd., both in Poquoson, VA, 23662.
