Homerville, GA On September 18, 2015 Sarah Belle Booth’s Savior and Heavenly Father welcomed her into her new home in Heaven. She passed away at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, after an extended illness. Sarah Belle, 91, was born February 1, 1924 in Clinch County, Georgia to the late George W. Cason and Blanche Griffis Cason. Sarah Bell, a beloved mother and grandmother, grew up in Clinch County and was a high school graduate. She married Marcus Ray Booth in 1943 and he preceded her in death on January 1, 1982. Sarah Belle spent her adult life in Homerville, GA working as a secretary for the ASCS office and for the late Folks Huxford for two years from, May 1966 until May, 1968. She was appointed Deputy Clerk of the Superior Court in May, 1968 and served in that position until her commission as Clerk of the Superior Court by then Governor Jimmy Carter on January 1, 1973. Sarah Belle served three additional uncontested terms as Clerk of Court retiring in December, 1988. She operated an extremely efficient office and made many needed improvements during her tenure. In May 1992, the Alapaha Bar Association presented her the Liberty Bell Award for her outstanding devotion and contributions to the legal profession. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in Sunday school and volunteered for many church projects. She enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. Sarah Belle loved needlework and was a gourmet cook. She is survived by two sons: Deryl Booth, Eastover, SC, and Wendell Booth (Martha), Lakeland, GA; one grandson, Justin Mark Booth (Dannyelle), Lakeland, GA; one great granddaughter; Remi Booth; and one sister: Edith Nell Delk (Bruce), Homerville, GA. She was preceded in death by a brother: L.C. Cason and a daughter-in-law: Sylvia Booth. The funeral service for Sarah Belle will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 21, 2105, at the First Baptist Church, Homerville, GA with the Rev. Paul Fulton, Rev. Danny Issac and Rev. Bill Watson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Roundtree Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 20, 2015. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at 315 Second Street West, Tifton, GA 31794.
