Walter Bell, 72, of 804 W. Locust St., Davenport, died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in Mercy Hospital. He had been ill since November.
A native of Davenport, Mr Bell married Hulda Meier, Jan 8, 1908, in Davenport. They had celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1958.
Before his retirement, he had farmed near Eldridge for 40 years. He had been an auctioneer since 1912.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs Alvin Jacobsen, Dixon; a son, Clarence, Eldridge; five grandchildren; three half brothers, Edward Muhs, Eldridge; Benjamin Muhs, Princeton; George Muhs, Indiana; three half sisters, Mrs Elmer Arp, Davenport; Mrs Clarence Mordhorst, New Liberty; and Mrs Albert Arp, Eldridge, He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Runge Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
