Word was received here Friday by Mrs. Ray Garrabrant, 824 Burton avenue, of the death of her brother, J. L. Bird, 39, of San Diego, California, formerly of Waterloo, as the result of an emergency operation.
Born June 6, 1905, in Rockport, Ind., he was the son of A. H. and Italia Bird. He moved to Waterloo with his parents in March, 1913, and married Margaret Pieres on Feb. 20, 1929.
His parents preceded him in death. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Patricia Ann and Mary Ellen; three sons, Jack, Dick and Gary, all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Garrabrant, and Mrs. Paul Harrison, Superior, Wis., and two brothers, R. H. Bird, Chicago, Ill., and W. L. Bird, San Diego, California.
