MRS. GUY COLVER

Ellen Dorsey Colver, only child of Joseph and Alice Dorsey, was born in Chariton, Iowa, June 16, 1884, and passed away July 6, 1934, at the age of 50 years and 20 days.

Her sudden passing came as a severe shock to her loved ones as her last illness was only of one week's duration. She was stricken with acute appendicitis and submitted to an operation, but the disease was so far advanced that all medical aid was of no use.

During her early childhood she lived in Chariton, and with the exception of a few years, her entire life was spent in Lucas county.

On March 1, 1906, she was united in marriage to Guy Colver. The first few years of their married life were spent on a farm, but for the past sixteen years their home has been on East Auburn avenue in Chariton.

Those who are left to mourn her departure are her husband,; one daughter, Mrs. Emma Humeston; two grandsons, Bobby Gene and Joe Lee Humeston; her aged mother, Mrs. W. H. Holmes; her step-father, W. H. Holmes, and a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Her father, Joseph Dorsey, preceded her in death on May 29, 1914.

At the age of 12 years she was converted and united with Methodist church at Afton, Iowa, and on Nov. 20, 1918, transferred her membership to the United Brethren church at Chariton. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge.

Mrs. Colver was a grand, good woman, devoted to her family, willing and happy to be of service to others, and taking special delight in her two little grandsons, who were the joy and pride of her life. She had a kind word and a cheery smile for all that will now be so sadly missed by everyone with whom she came in contact.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. O. O. Hobson, of the U. B. church, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
