Fred P. Hare Jr. was the son of Fred P. Sr. and Ellen Alice (Machin) Hare. Fred was married twice, his first wife Mary Alice George and second wife Dorothy Daugherty both preceded him in death.

Fred Hare Jr. was elected to three terms to the Pennsylvania State Legislature taking time off only to serve in the U.S. Navy. Fred was elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 1946, serving two terms.
Education:
In 1925 he graduated from Meyersdale High School, obtained a B.A. degree from Ashland College in education. He received his M.A. degree in education from the University Of Pittsburgh and had also done some graduate work at Penn State.
An obituary was published by the Daily American, Somerset County, Pa., December 18, 1980.
