He was the son of Ralph and Grace (Armstrong) Koons. On Aug 10, 1946, he married Sarah Margaret Gearing, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons: Michael (Mary Jo), Vandalia, and William (Nancy), Chagrin Falls; two daughters: Jeanetta (Mark) Muhlehkamp, Englewood, and Barbara (Ken) Niekamp, Centerville; a sister, Martha Bollinger, Celina; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, John.
A 1942 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, he attended the Coyne Electric School, Chicago. He was retired manager of the W.H. Kiefaber Company and also Jasperson Supply Company, both St. Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Eagles Lodge 767, St. Marys. He loved golfing and spending his winters in Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, with Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
