Dale G. Benedict, 77, of Marysville died Sunday morning, September 13th, at his residence, surrounded by his family, following many months of failing health.

He retired after 15 years of service with Finch, Inc. in Powell as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and following 24 years at O.M. Scotts here in Marysville. His accomplishments included holding patents with both of these companies.

Dale was a long time member of the Milford Center United Methodist Church and the Milford Center Lions Club. He was one of the people instrumental in establishing the Marysville Farmers Market and he also operated the Honey Health Farm. He was a member of the Scotts 20 Year Club and informally hosted the N. Lewisburg coffee group at the Benedict Hardware while he, his wife Evelyn, and daughter Kay operated the hardware.

He was a proud Republican, was a member of the National Republican Task Force and especially enjoyed his time in Washington DC when he met former President George W. Bush during a convention dinner.

Dale was born September 23, 1937 in Marion to the late Delmer P. and Mildred I. Gettys Benedict. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Norma & Mildred Benedict, Evelyn Brunson, Sondra Atherton; brothers, Dick, Don, Wayne & Raymond Benedict.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, the former Evelyn Y. Oberdier whom he married December 14, 1958 in Delaware; their children, Kay (Donnie) Boyer of N. Lewisburg, Kim (Thomas) Barrick of Wheelersburg, Kevin Benedict of N. Lewisburg, Keith (Karen) Benedict of Plain City; 5 grandchildren, Shane (Ashley) Boyer, Kayla (Kyle) Dawson, Danielle Benedict, Logan Barrick, Dylan Benedict; 2 great grandchildren Gracie & Brody Boyer; a sister, Virginia (Jack) Miller of Springfield; a brother, Day (Betty) Benedict of Marysville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-8pm at the Ingram Funeral Home, Marysville where funeral services will be at 11am Friday with Pastors Pat Street and Karen Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at the Milford Center Cemetery.

Pall bearers will be Keith & Dylan Benedict, Donnie & Shane Boyer, Tom Barrick and Kyle Dawson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Loving Care Hospice or the N. Lewisburg United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
