Burton J. Grippin, 81, of Waverly, formerly of Dodge Avenue, Waverly, and Finkenbinder Road in Spencer, passed away on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at home with his loving family by his side.
Burt was predeceased by his parents, Don K. and Inez Grippin; sisters, Ethel and Erma; and brother, Donald.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sylvia Ward Grippin; children, Shirley (Larry) Ratcliffe, Connie (Larry) Wade, Karen Grippin, Donald (Janet) Grippin, Burt (Kathy) Grippin, Larry (Kim) Grippin, and Sylvia (Danny Snow) Grippin; sister, Irene Roth; 20 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Burt retired from the Town of Barton Highway Department after 23 years of service. He was a member of the Moose Club in Waverly and enjoyed fishing, knife collecting, auto mechanics and traveling.
The family invites friends to call on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 from 11-11:45 a.m. at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad St., Waverly.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in North Barton Cemetery on Ridge Road.
