Son of Joseph Fitzwater and Hannah Stahl

Husband of:
1st Wife: Anna Stahl
2nd Wife: Pamela Foster

He died on 28 Jul 1851 at the age of 72 in Gwynedd, Montgomery Co., PA. He was buried on 29 Jul 1851 in Upper Dublin Meeting, Upper Dublin, Montgomery Co., PA.

Joseph was buried in Row 4, 1st in the row, 2nd
Tier.

Joseph had his estate probated on 27 Aug 1851 in Montgomery Co., PA.

He served in the military during the War of 1812. The Roster of the Enlisted Militia of Upper Dublin Township, of 1810 & 1811, shows Joseph Fitzwater as a private,
age 33, in the Seventh Company, 56th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Militia.

Montgomery County Deed Book 83, page 244, shows that Joseph Fitzwater purchased 12 acres and 76 perches of land in
Gwynedd Township (Deed book 49, p.467) on April 5, 1833. He then purchased the adjacent property of 12 acres and 40
perches of land, more or less, on April 29, 1833 (Deed book 49, p.465). It indicates that he had a total of 24 acres and 116
perches.

His will, dated March 29, 1845, indicates that the land was along the road between Springhouse and the Three Ton
Tavern, bounded by the lands of Joshua Davis, Lewis Jones, Isaac Ellis, Henry Fleck and Berkhimer's.

Book 4 of the minutes of the Horsham Monthly Meeting, page 216, indicates that on 30 May 1838, Joseph Fitzwater
requested "to be received into membership with Friends." He thereafter was selected as a representative to attend the "Ensuing Quarterly Meetings." The 1846 map of Montgomery County shows his property on the South side of the road, midway between Spring House and Lewisville. After the death of Joseph, the land was sold by the family to his son-in-law, George B. Iredell. George purchased the land for $3015 as he was the highest and best bidder.

The 1850 census shows Joseph, age 72, and wife Pamela, age 71, living in Gwynned Township of Montgomery County.
With them were their daughter Catharine Livingston, age 38, and her son James Livingston, age 14, as well as another
grandson George White, age 9. The value of his real estate is listed as $3,000.

Extracts of the will of Joseph Fitzwater can be
found in Montgomery County Deed Book 83 on page 244, recorded April 2, 1852. It names his wife and six daughters. It also states that George White, the husband of his daughter Mary, was deceased. Montgomery County Deed Book 83, page 244. Executors of last will named in deed dated April 2, 1852.
