Jack was born on Jan. 17, 1943, in Peoria, Okla., the son of the late William Jackson and Vera Jeanetta (Watts) Severs. He moved to Joplin in the early 1980s from Atlanta, Ga.
He owned and operated ITEC and JDS Rentals. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as team leader, chairman of the finance committee and an Awana's leader. He was an avid Coca-Cola collector and LP records. He enjoyed playing golf.
He was the patriarch of his family. He was a kind, generous man who felt his mission in life was helping others, like our Heavenly Father. He loved unconditionally.
Jack is survived by his companion for 17 years, Georgia Smith, Joplin; together they had a blended family, Jack's children, Ronda K. Davis and husband, Jack, Carthage, Mo., Tonya Sharron and husband, Sam Johnston, Shadydale, Ga., Tonya (T.K.) Smith, Carthage, and Gordon Severs, Camdenton, Mo.; Georgia's children, Mark Smith and wife, Martha, Goodman, Mo., Greg Smith and wife, Amy, Joplin, and John Smith and his wife, Brenda, Fayetteville, Ark; two sisters, Linda Korb and husband, Don, Miami, Okla., and Carolyn Eckhoff and husband, Harold, Joplin; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded death by one brother, Gene Severs.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Brad Graves will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Brandon Davis, Ryan Smith, Justin Smith, Joe Dickey, Preston Jones, and Colton Smith. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
