She was born March 2, 1939, in Bloomington, a daughter of Vernon Hanover and Margaret Purcell. She married Joseph W. "Joe" Persons on Aug. 7, 1965, in Bloomington. He died Dec. 1, 2006.
Survivors include two children, Diane Swords, Joliet, and Dawn Persons, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Heather Riddle, Bloomington; Jacob Johnson, Bloomington; and Nicholas Swords, Joliet; two sisters, Jane (Terry) Magee, Washburn, and June (Bill) Brown, Bloomington; and a sister-in-law, Trudy Hanover, Ellsworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eugene Hanover.
She was very active in the seniors group at Downs. She was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
