Graveside services for Joe E. Anthony, 85, of Lufkin, will be held at Emporia Cemetery in Diboll. Mr. Anthony was born August 16, 1930 in Diboll, Texas, the son of the late Rebecca Jane (Clark) and Benjamin Wood Anthony. He passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 in a local hospital.

Mr. Anthony was retired from Louisiana Pacific as a security guard. He loved camping, fishing, and enjoyed hunting. He never met a stranger. He was a good man who would do anything for anyone; his legacy will live on through his children. Mr. Anthony served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Restoration Worship Center.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Anthony; son, Melton Joe Anthony, Sr. and his girlfriend Tammie Laney; sister, Juanita Hebert; adopted daughter, Joy Dale Butterbaugh; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Sue Anthony; sisters, Bertha Perkins, Bobbie Jean Matta, Laura Lee Fussell and Shirley Burns; and brothers, Eberett Wesley Anthony, Archie Anthony, Clifford B. Anthony and George Edward Anthony.

Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
