During all aspects of her life, Darlena had an unwavering faith in God. She attended Gospel Chapel in Montgomery, Texas and the Gospel Assembly Church in Humble, TX. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted with numerous events whenever there was a need. Tasked to carry on her legacy of love are her 4 children, Sandra Leah McClure, Jefferson Aaron Williams, Malcolm Scott Williams, and Melissa LaVaughna Smith along with her 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Darlena earned a Bachelor’s degree from University of South Eastern Illinois in her 20’s then a Master’s of Education from Sam Houston State University as she established herself in the Special Education field in the Houston and surrounding school districts. Darlena made her home in Texas in 1973, where she lived out her life enjoying each day. Her education and ability to teach was used in Sunday school where she taught children her love for God. Darlena loved to travel and spend time with family - trips to the campground and family reunions were some of her favorite times and events to attend.
