Lewis Cross moved with his parents from Wisconsin to a farm in Olmsted county, Minnesota in the mid 1860's. The family moved to Hanson county, South Dakota in the 1870's and settled near Alexandria.
Lewis married Emma Stotts around 1894. They lived in South Dakota in 1898. In September of 1898, Lewis and his family moved to Otter Tail county, MN where Lewis' parents and sister had settled. He visited his sister who within days died of a sudden illness, Lewis was struck with an illness a short period of time later and died within weeks.
Lewis and Emma had two sons, William and James.
After Lewis' death, Emma (Stotts) Cross married James L. Hicks, widower of Lewis' sister, Linnie.
