DROPPED DEAD.

A Rockton Man Missing--His Dead Body Found in an Outhouse--A Shocked Community
Monday noon the village of Rockton received quite a shock. Mr. Thomas W. Parry, a gentleman 65 years of age, who has been in rather feeble health, has been shopping at the New England House. He has been troubled with heart affliction since last May and has been well cared for by friends in Rockton.

About 10 o'clock Monday morning he seemed to be in excellent spirits and rather better health than usual. He called for his overcoat and started out. When he did not return at noon, surprise at his absence soon gave way to uneasiness, and a search was instituted. After some time, some of the party entered the outhouse and were startled to find him.

LYING ON THE FLOOR
were [where] he had apparently fallen. Examination disclosed that he had been dead for some time, probably over an hour. It was undoubtedly heart disease. The body was cared for and a telegram sent to his son who probably arrived today and will take charge of the remains. (Daily Register [Rockford, Illinois] Wednesday, December 10, 1884, Page 3.) (Accessed and transcribed 12 December 2016 by Mary Jo.)
