Mrs. Henry O. Whitmore, for over 60 years a resident of DeKalb county, and widely known and esteemed, passed from this life at her home in Oak Park, Ill., yesterday, Monday, Dec. 16, at the age of 82 years.
Mrs. Whitmore had been active mentally and physically up to the time of the death of her husband which occurred on November 28, 1920, since which time she had steadily failed in health. The last few years she had made her home in Oak Park.
Esther V. Andrews was a daughter of Luman and Sophronis Collins Andrews, and was born on October 28, 1844, in Warren county, N.Y., where she made her home until she came to DeKalb county in 1860. She was married here on February 26, 1862, to Henry O. Whitmore, of a well known family of early residents of Mayfield township, and in that township they made their home for many years until their removal to Sycamore. Mr. Whitmore died six years ago.
Mrs. Whitmore leaves surviving two children; Mrs. Cora W. Votaw of Chicago, and Mr. Wallace W. Whitmore of Sycamore, for many years well known deputy county clerk of DeKalb county.
The remains will be brought to Sycamore and the funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock p.m. on Saturday. The interment will be beside the remains of her husband in Elmwood cemetery.
