Lula Mae Jennings

May 6, 1915 - September 7, 2015

Lula Mae Goodwin Jennings, 100, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the church with Bro. Jeff Lawrence officiating. Private burial will be in the New Harmony Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Jennings was born on May 6, 1915 to the late Andrew Goodwin and Belle Jennings Goodwin Steward. She married Vardie Jennings in 1935 and was a devoted wife for 54 years until his death in 1989. She was also a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her son, James Lacy (Jim) Jennings and wife, Carol of New Albany; two grandsons: James Jennings, Jr. (Jimmy) and wife Elizabeth of Olive Branch, MS; and Chris Jennings and wife Jennifer of Greer, SC; one great-granddaughter, Rebekah Jennings; three great-grandsons, Samuel, Grant and Matt Jennings; one sister, Sally Ruth Whiteside; and one brother, David L. Steward.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Vardie Jennings in 1989, her parents, one sister and eleven brothers.

Pallbearers will be Vance Witt, Sam Jordan, Terry Willard, Alfred Steward, Jerry Steward and Troy Nance.
