Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. Derrick Weingartner, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Eulogist will be done by her nephew, Brother Herman Johnson, O.P.
Mrs. Belson was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset. She was a retired hairstylist and later retired as a head start teacher. She was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary for forty-five years.
Survivors include three sons, Marvin Jerome Belson and his wife, Kathy, of Sunset, Brennan Belson of Atlanta, GA and Rodrick Belson of New Orleans; two daughters, Antoinette Goodly and her husband, John, of Missouri City, TX and Vanessa Taylor and her husband, John, of Opelousas; one brother, John Adams and his wife, Bernice, of Houston, TX; two sisters, Viola Johnson of Houston, TX and Adeline Insell of Port Arthur, TX; eleven grandchildren, Quentin Belson and his wife, Dannella, Tiffany Taylor, Kellen Goodly, Sr. and his wife, Brandi, Timothy Taylor, Shaquille Belson, Kory Goodly, Nicholas Belson, Darius Calais, Kristopher Goodly, Kelci Belson and Brianna Belson; seven great grandchildren, Kaelin Belson, Dae'von Simon, Destiny Simon, Jayla Belson, Halle Burrell, Kellen Goodly, Jr., Kaitlyn Goodly; her special sister-in-law, JoAnne B. Shaw and her husband, Junius L., of Sunset; a special nephew that was like a son to her, Allen Charles and his wife, Lillion, of Sunset; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton Belson, Jr.; her parents, Frank Adams and the former Regina Lastrapes; and six brothers, Robert Adams, Eddie Adams, Joseph Adams, Frank Adams, Preston Adams and Harry Adams; and one sister, Mary Charles.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:30 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Quentin J. Belson, Kellen M. Goodley, Sr., Timothy J. Taylor, Shaquille O. Belson, Kory M. Goodly and Darius Calais. Honorary pallbearers will be John M. Goodly, John F. Taylor, Nicholas S. Belson, Jarrod Shaw, Craig Belson and Kenneth Adams.
