Ellen Mae Herron, 89, of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday September 1, 2015 at her home. Born on November 4, 1925 in Gate City, VA, she was the daughter of the late Enoch Jackson Penley and Monnie Mae Lane Penley. Mrs. Herron loved and cherished flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. In addition to her parents, Enoch Jackson and Monnie Mae Lane Penley, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clayton Penley; and her husband of 64 years, Curtis Echol Herron. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Phillips; ex son-in-law, Bill Phillips; son, Stanley Herron; grandchildren, James Stephen Langrel and Roger Lee Langrel; great-grandchildren, Ashley Freeman, James Aaron Langrel, Marra Langrel and Lesley Langrel; great-great grandchildren, Aubrey and Jacob Freeman; sisters, Mary Nutter and husband Bobby, Ann Britt (husband Gene, deceased), Wilma Snapp and husband Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at East Lawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Christus Garden of East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev.Tom Hancock officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
