Herman A. Parks
OSCEOLA MILLS - Herman A. Parks, 76, of Osceola Mills RD1, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31,1998, at his home.
Born Nov. 20, 1921, in Decatur Township, he was the son of the late Raymond and Verda (Winters) Parks.
Mr. Parks retired as a coal miner for Elliot Coal Co. He attended the Ashland Wesleyan Church, Osceola Mills RD. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 5020 in Osceola Mills.
On Dec. 24, 1941, in Brisbin, he wed Margaret (Cookie) Truax Parks, who survives in Osceola Mills RD1.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David (Verda) Soltesz of State College and Mrs. Willard (Cathy) Verbeck of Hawk Run; a son, Norman A. Parks of Morrisdale; five grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a sister, Helen L. Keith of Coalport.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills, with the Rev. John Croft and Rev. Roy Kelly co-officiating.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Philipsburg.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ashland Wesleyan Church, Osceola Mills RD
