Leander D. Cline, son of David and Lucy (Blakeslee) Cline, was born in Townsend Township, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada. By 1860 the family was living in Lowell, Kent County, Michigan, where his father farmed. In 1862 his father enlisted to serve for Michigan during the Civil War; he died from typhoid fever in 1864. After his mother's second marriage, Leander was raised by his mother and step-father, Clement Parrott in Lowell. On July 27, 1876, Leander married Mary A. Behler, daughter of Leonard and Anne Margarete (Meck) Behler. They lived on their farm located just 2 miles east of the Behler farm owned by her parents. This was southwest of Lowell, MI. The Cline farm consists of two 40 acre parcels located 1/2 mile apart.Mary died at Alto, Michigan, in 1928. Leander died in 1936. They had no children.
