Ralph L. Wherley, 85, of 1260 Beck Mill Road, Hanover, died Monday, March 15, at his home.
Born July 20, 1913 in West Manheim Township, he was a son of the late Isaac B. and Mary A. Sterner Wherley. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Dora Hoffman Wherley.
A World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Infantry in the Philippine Islands and Japan. Mr. Wherley was a life member of VFW Post 2506, Hanover. He was employed as a finish trim carpenter and cabinet maker for more than 45 years in the Hanover area. He competed for many years in the Hanover area bowling leagues and was a member of the national and local 1842 AARP.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Gibbons of Brodbecks and Dorothy Mae Cullop of Mt. Airy, Md.; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at Wetzel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eric P. Wogan officiating. INterment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
