Ora M. Williams of Scottsbluff, was called home on her 99th birthday, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

Ora was the second oldest child of seven born to Dean and Lena Bell of Bassett, NE on August 29, 1914. She grew up and went to school in Bassett, graduated from Bassett High School and continued Normal Training education to become a teacher.

In 1937 she married Merle Williams of Ainsworth, NE. and later divorced. They moved to Scottsbluff for a brief period where Ora waited tables at the Eagles Café. Later they moved back to Bassett and then to Gordon, NE. where Ora raised “her girls” – Nona June (Annett) and Mona Jean (Kearns) as a single parent.

Ora held a variety of jobs working as a retail clerk, waitress and nurse assistant at Gordon Memorial Hospital. She later moved to Sidney to complete Hairdresser and Cosmetology School and owned and operated a shop in Chadron, NE for several years. She moved to Scottsbluff and enjoyed working at the Golden Rule and the Wise Clothing Store until it closed. She moved to North Platte and managed the Wise store there and enjoyed cooking for the Girl Scouts at their summer camp for two years. She returned to Scottsbluff and worked at Sweet Briar’s before retiring as a full time Grandma.

Ora was a member of the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies for many years, and spent countless hours sewing, crocheting and baking for her family and friends.

Ora is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her four brothers and one grandson.

Inurnment will be held at the Bassett, NE City Cemetery.
