Esther Evelyn Weigold was born on September 4, 1910 to Andrew and Barbara (Lehman) Weigold in Delton Township, Cottonwood County, MN. She was baptized in the Christian Faith at the Christian Reformed Church in rural Mountain Lake, MN. Esther was united in marriage to Ernest Albert Carl Karschnik on December 30, 1928, by Pastor J. Parisch in Cottonwood County. They farmed in Jackson County, MN and then moved to the Osakis/Long Prairie, MN area to farm and run a service station. Ernest died on December 9, 1983, and she continued to live in Long Prairie until moving back to Mountain Lake on July 1, 1989. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake on August 13, 1996, and was transferred to the Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom, MN on January 28, 2002. Esther enjoyed Gardening, sewing, playing cards, and retirement winters in Arizona. She was very active in her church and enjoyed working there.

Esther is survived by a son, Ernest Karschnik Jr and his wife Jeanette of Forsyth, MO; two daughters, Norlinda Aspelund of White Bear Lake, MN, and Brenda Altfeltis of Happy Jack, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Karen Karschnik of Mankato, MN; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; 2 step great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Margie Weigold of TN; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert Karschnik on June 15, 1978; two sisters, Tillie Jones and Sadie Bartsch; and three brothers, Gay Weigold and Roy Weigold, and Royland Weigold in infancy.
