Mary C. Williams 89 of Strasburg passed away Monday, August 24, 2009 at Greenfield Reflections of Strasburg.

A funeral service for Mary C. Williams will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 28, 2009 at St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, Woodstock with Father Robert Lange officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg.

She was born in Clearfield, PA on August 7, 1920 a daughter of the late Nicola and Antonia Borgia Calapa.

She graduated from Clearfield High School in Clearfield, PA., and then lived in Washington DC where she worked at the Pentagon as a secretary. This is where Mary met the love of her life, Earl Douglas Williams who was serving as a White House Guard. They married in 1944 and after his discharge from service they moved to Strasburg in 1945 and began a family.

Mary became the secretary of Strasburg High School and gave twenty five devoted years to Shenandoah County.

She loved the Strasburg community and was actively involved in many social clubs such as the Bowknot Club, and played many a bridge game with her friends. She was an avid quilter and was a member of the Belle Grove Quilters.

Mary quilted many quilts and gave them as gifts to her family and friends. She served as a volunteer for the Strasburg Museum, and loved to crochet. She was a member of the St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church in Woodstock.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Williams who predeceased her in 2002.

Mary was the last living member of her immediate family, a sister, and four brothers also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Williams Rodeffer and husband, Gary of Woodbridge, VA; her son, Jerry Francis Williams and wife, Janet C. of Manassas, VA; her grandchildren, Paul Rodeffer, Stephen Rodeffer and wife, Jill, Jenna Williams, and Jillian Williams; her great grandchild, Ryan Rodeffer; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. Thursday evening.

Flowers will accepted or those who with may make memorial contributions to Blue Ridge Hospice.
