There was no warning that on September 1, 2015, we would unexpectedly lose Nolan Erich Schmoldt. Suddenly, the man known as Fritz by family and friends and as Papa by his six grandsons left this world. As heartbroken as we are; we can rejoice in his legacy and celebrate the 81 years that Fritz TRULY lived his life. Born in Wisconsin on Nov. 17th, 1933, Fritz came from a large family - four brothers and two sisters. Fritz fought in the Korean war. After his honorable service he married the absolute love of his life Kathleen Kolz in April 1954. Fritz was never fond of cold weather and after 27 years of Wisconsin winters he decided to move his family to Arizona in 1960. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Lillian (Radtke) Schmoldt, in-laws, Bert and Helen Kolz; his daughter, Debbie; brothers, Daniel, Ronald, and Arden Schmoldt; brothers-in-law, Norbert Kolz and Robert Hodgden. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, three sons and one daughter, Dan, Glendale AZ; Doug (Kathi), Henderson, NV; Dave (Deb), Queen Creek, AZ; Denise (Pete) Richmond, Andover, MN; grandsons, Erich Schmoldt, Tucson, AZ; Patrick Schmoldt, Glendale, AZ; Konner and Jake Schmoldt, Queen Creek, AZ; Matthew and Michael Richmond, Andover, MN; brother, Roger and (Marion) Schmoldt, Merrill, WI; sisters, Valeria Hodgden, Glendale, AZ;and Dorothy (Vern Otto), Surprise, AZ; sister-in-law, Betty Schmoldt, Weyauwega, WI; and his little canine buddy, MAX.

Church services will be held at: Apostles Lutheran Church on Friday Sept 11, 2015, at 1000, 7020 W Cactus Rd, Peoria, AZ 85381 (623) 979-3497. Full Honor Veteran Services to follow at: The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
