Lavon “Granny” Britt, 97, of Silver Springs, FL, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015. Granny was born in Dundee, FL to William and Juanita Waters and moved to Silver Springs in 1969. Granny was a cook at Morrison’s in Ocala, Salt Springs Seafood, Lake Kerr Barbecue, and all of Scrambletown. Her biscuits and chicken and dumplings and bread pudding were a staple for all who knew her. Granny also liked gardening, crochet, and fishing. She was predeceased by her husband William “Big Poppa” (1991), and sons Jim (1994) and Bill (2003). She is survived by caregiver and daughter in law Loretta Britt, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at John Fletcher Counts Cemetery in Silver Springs. Reception at the Britts Tuesday after services.
