Visitation for Lavenia Clark Searcy, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend will be Monday, Aug. 7, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. where the funeral will be on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Joyce officiating.

Searcy passed away at her home in Tularosa on Friday, Aug. 4, after a long illness. In 1949, Lavenia and her husband, Raymond Clark and their two sons moved from Goodlett, Texas, to Ruidoso. After Raymond's death, she married Frank Gardner and moved to Tularosa where she and Frank owned and operated the Gardner Pipe and Steel Co. Lavenia continued to run the company for several years after Frank's death. In 1990 Lavenia married cliff Searcy. Lavenia had been active in the Adobe Dabblers, Tularosa Senior Citizen Center, Otero Widows' Group, and Ruidoso Doe's.

Lavenia was born July 20, 1923, in Paducah, Texas, to Jess and Pearl Allen. She is survived by her two sons, Wesley Clark and his wife Linda, of Ruidoso, Kenneth Clark and his wife Peggy, of Ruidoso; a step son, Derek Searcy and his wife B.J., of Huachuca City, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jennifer Clark, Scott Clark and his wife Annie, Kendra Caraway, Wendy Clark, Randy Clark, and Matthew Searcy; great grandchildren, Kelcey Clark and Zack Caraway; her brothers, Louie Allen, William Allen, Mel Allen, Glenn Allen; sisters, Edna Stutzman, Joyce Campbell, Johnnye Riggan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice, 505 11th St., Alamogordo, NM 88320.
