George Case, Store Owner, Dies Today
George A. Case, 68, a Petoskey merchant since he came here in 1017, died early this morning August 11, 1952, at his home on Michigan street.
Last April Mr. Case went to the Mayo Clinic for an operation and had been in failing health since that time.
Mr. Case was born February 24, 1884, in Tuscola County to Cicero Harrison Case and Euelle May ‘Ella’ (Robinson) Case. After his marriage to Ida Williams in 1017 in Caro he came to Petoskey. In Caro he had been associated with the E. O. Spaulding general store. In Petoskey he was with the Beese and Porter store until 15 years ago when he opened his own Mitchell street store, the Case Louise Shop.
He was a member of the Elks, the Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club and St. Francis Church.
He is survived by his wife Ida; four children, Mrs. Lawrence Homuant, Alpena, Richard Case, Petoskey, Jack Case of San Francisco, and Maurice Case of Petoskey; three sisters, Miss Alta Case and Miss Edna Case of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Nina Lazelle of Lansing; one grandson and three granddaughters.
Funeral services for George A. Case, were held Thursday at St. Francis Church. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery.
