Patterson, William—Enlisted 15 August 1862, 23 years old, as a private in Co. I, 103rd Infantry. Description at enlistment: 5’8” tall; light hair; blue eyes; born in Fulton County, Illinois. Discharged November 1863 at Memphis, Tennessee.

Married Martha Ellen Stoops in Fulton County, Illinois on 23 October 1864. Martha was born in Ipava (Fulton) Illinois on 4 September 1845. Martha’s parents were Michael Stoops of Ohio and Susana Gore.
Their children: Cyrus J. born 3 April 1866 in Pleasant Township (Fulton) Illinois; and Minerva Jane born 29 April 1868.
William was sent home on sick furlough with camp diarrhea and was unable to return to the company. William died at home in Ipava (Fulton) Illinois on 30 March 1870 of diabetes. (Civil War Soldiers from Pleasant Township, Fulton County, Illinois)
