Geneva was born on April 27, 1929 in Winnsboro, TX, the daughter of Orbie and Lena (Cone) Allen. She graduated from Winnsboro Highs School in 1947, upon graduating she went to work for Sears and Roebuck in the mail order department for several years. She married Eugene Mertz on February 7, 1953 in Dallas, TX.
In 1971 Geneva and her husband relocated to Waddington, NY where Geneva was a seamstress in the area for over 40 years. Sewing and being a seamstress was Geneva’s passion, she did not think of it as a job or her work. She would love to sew, knit and do needle point for her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Geneva is survived by her husband Eugene of 62 years; two sons, Michael and wife Jeanne of Phoenix, AZ, Mark and wife Joyce of Unadilla, NY; four grandchildren, Chris and Craig Mertz, D.J. Houle and Heather Parker; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Marine Shaw of Winnsboro, TX and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, and a brother. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington.
